The Launch Sitecore Site using TDS
The Launch Sitecore site is a great shared source site that allows Sitecore editors and developers to check out a complete Page Editor and DMS friendly Sitecore solution. The site comes complete with Engagement Plans, User Profiles and Lucene Indexing, and the code and content can be downloaded by registering on the site, then going to the /download page.
While playing around with the site, I wanted to have a play with a couple of things from the development side of things. I wanted to teach myself things with:-
- Git (and GitHub)
- Git-Flow
- Glass Mapper
- Sitecore Rocks
- TDS with Code Generation.
As a result, I have created a GitHub repository that has the code from the Sitecore package in a Web Application solution, and have converted all of the items in the package into serialised items in TDS.
You can grab the repo from here:-

While playing with GitFlow, I’ve managed to get the repository tag 1.0 to be the Sitecore 6.5 version of the site.
Tag 1.1 is the Sitecore 7.0 version (still in the classic version of the site).
The repository can be used by developers as a way to learn more about TDS, Code Generation, Rocks, Glass, Page Editor, DMS and more. It’s a full site, with complete content, so it can also serve as a testing ground for code snippets, and trial features on a relatively clean solution.
To get the site running locally, pull whichever tag version you want, then follow the instructions in the repo’s readme file to install it.
If there’s anything you’d like to know about the setup, let me know, and I’d be happy to discuss it all further.

Hi Friend, is launchsitecore.net still up and running? I haven’t been able to get it to load. I recently got a book that refers to it a lot as a great learning tool. The book is 5 years old, but I came across this site with a reference to it from this January.I don’t know enough to pull anything from github and install it anywhere for myself. Any advice or direction you can give to something similar to launchsitecore.net?
Thanks in advance!
